Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 242 Private Victor Oswald Worland, 2nd Field Ambulance, Australia and the Middle East, 1914-1916. Collection consists of two handwritten diaries covering 19 August 1914 to 30 December 1915 accompanied by a typed transcript, a Christmas card sent by Worland to 'Essie' and a 1916 program for the 'Anniversary of the opening of "Hethersett"'. Worland's diaries describe activities undertaken by the Second Field Ambulance both on board hospital ships and in camps throught the Middle East. They also touch on different battles and periods of fighting, including the Battle of Gaba Tepe.

This collection was donated in conjunction with 3DRL/5065. During the donation process items from both collections were misidentified and catalogued incorrectly. Items removed from this collection have now been added to 3DRL/5065 should they be required for viewing, and vice versa.
