North, Julian (Sergeant, b.1892 - d.1955)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 931 Sergeant Julian North, DCM, 11th Battalion and 3rd Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery. Collection consists of one original handwritten letter from Alexander MacNeil congratulating Sergeant North on the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM), dated 18 August 1917. The DCM was awarded to Sergeant North for his actions on 6 May at Bullecourt, where he kept a Stokes Mortar in action during an attack and later led a party to hold off the enemy.
