Description
Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant Alexander Roxburgh Muir, 45 Battalion, AIF, France, 1917. Collection consists of two congratulatory notes to Lieutenant Muir from Divisional and Brigade commanders on the immediate award of the MC for bravery at the Battle of Messines, 7-10 June, 1917.
History / Summary
Biographical note: Lieutenant Alexander Roxburgh Muir, MC, 45 Battalion, AIF. Engineering student; of Stanmore, NSW, born Homebush, NSW; educated at Newington College, Stanmore, and Sydney University; joined the AIF on 14 September 1915. Killed in action at Zonnebeke, 13 October 1917, aged 22. Son of John Paton Muir and Jeanie Paton Muir, of Brescia, Appian Way, Burwood, New South Wales. Native of Sydney.
