Gibbins, Norman (Captain, b.1878 - d.1916)
Description
Papers of Captain Norman Gibbins who served in the 55th Battalion during the First World War. Gibbins was killed in France on 20 July 1916. Collection consists of a photograph album containing black and white photographs of Gibbins and other soldiers of the 55th Battalion in Tel el Kebir in 1915. Written in the front cover is a short list of some of the men who served in the Battalion. Correspondence includes letters of condolence sent to Norman's sister, Violet Gibbins, from the Governor-General's officer and other soldiers in his battalion, August 1916. A newsclipping referring to Gibbins by Charles Bean is also included.
