Ross-King, Alice, MM (Sister, b.1887 - d.1968)
Description
Papers of Sister Alice Ross-King who served with the Australian Army Nursing Service during the First World War. The collection consists of her three original diaries, a typed transcript of the diaries, a Florence Nightingale certificate, two Red Cross citations and three copies of letters of congratulations. The diaries cover the years 1915-1919 when she worked in Egypt (1st Australian General Hospital), Rouen (1st Australian General Hospital), St Omer (10th Stationary Hospital) and Armentieres (2nd Casualty Clearing Station). In one entry Alice Ross-King recounts events for which she earned a Military Medal while working at the 2nd Casualty Clearing Station.
