Sweetheart brooch : Bombardier F Warren, 6 Field Artillery Brigade, AIF
Brass and enamel Australian Artillery sweetheart brooch. The badge features a King's crown at the top with a red enamel scroll bearing the motto 'UBIQUE'. Underneath this is a field gun with a blue enamel scroll beneath it bearing the words 'CONSENSUS AUSTRALIA STABILES'. Three folding pins for attachment are soldered to the reverse.
Associated with the service of 8627 Bombardier Frederick Warren of 6 Field Artillery Brigade, AIF. Warren was born in 1897 and worked as a station hand until his enlistment on 17 September 1915. He sailed for Egypt on the troopship 'Persic' on 22 November 1915. Warren served with his unit on the Western Front and was awarded the Military Medal for 'conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty'. He embarked for return to Australia on 27 April 1919.
