Studio portrait of 566 Sergeant (later Lieutenant) James Scholes Hogg, 42nd Battalion, of Toowoomba, QLD. He enlisted on 26 November 1915 and died of wounds on 1 August 1917 at Steenwerck, Belgium. He was the eldest of five brothers who enlisted in the AIF and a sister who nursed with the AANS.
