Private Alan Stowell Cox
Description
Private Alan Stowell Cox enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 18 June 1940. He served with 2/10 Field Ambulance in Malaya, but was taken as a prisoner of war of the Japanese in early 1942. In April 1943, he was appointed to the medical section of F Force, one of the groups of prisoners sent to work on the Thai-Burma Railway. Private Cox died of illness on 28 January 1944 at Tanbaya Hospital Camp, Myanmar. He is buried at the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, Myanmar.
