Personal Files Book 20, 15 August - 8 September 1918

File of papers relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant General Sir John Monash, Australian Corps. This file, originally part of Book 20, covers 15 August 1918 to 8 September 1918 and includes documents relating to the actions at Peronne and Mont St. Quentin and plans for the Battle of St. Quentin Canal. Included in this are a large volume of casualty reports and detailed reports on the St. Quentin Canal that contain topographical sketches and tactical analysis. The file also contains an Order from Field Marshall Sir Douglas Haig requesting the troops press home their advantage, a message from Lord Rawlinson expressing his admiration for the 2nd Division after the capture of Mont St. Quentin and a letter from a French refugee asking if any Australian soldier has found her doll.
