Turkish Metal identity disc : Lone Pine, Gallipoli
Description
Rectangular tin identity disc with rounded corners and a suspension hole punched into one top end. The disc is impressed with arabic numbers which translate to '77 / 1 / 3 / 801'. Both front and rear surfaces are stained with accretion.
History / Summary
One of three Turkish identity discs recovered from the Lone Pine trench system in 1919 by Charles Bean and the Australian Historical Mission upon their return to Gallipoli.
