Gallipoli - the other side of the hill

Çanakkale'de Siperde Düşmanı Bekleyen Nöbetçilerimiz
Over eight gruelling months in 1915, Anzac and Turkish troops faced each other across a narrow no man’s land lined with the bodies of those killed in bloody attempts by each side to take ground from the other. The ordeals of squalid trench life, with its shelling, sniping, poor rations, and primitive sanitation, were shared by the soldiers on both sides. Photographs from Turkish sources reveal this common experience.
On display in the Western Courtyard Gallery from 17 April until 27 May 2015.
