To commemorate the Centenary of the First World War, the name of each of the 62,000 Australians who gave their lives during the First World War were projected onto the façade of the Hall of Memory at the Australian War Memorial. The names were displayed from sunset to sunrise every night, and could be seen from the Memorial’s grounds. Each name was visible for 30 seconds.
This special commemoration ran from 4 August 2014 until 11 November 2018. During this period, the entire set of 62,000 names were displayed about 30 times.
In 2019 projections will continue to be displayed nightly starting with the names of those who gave their lives during the Second World War.
