Nautical Odometer Water Vane Rope Handle
Description
Nautical odometer water vane rope handle used to stabilize water vane. The handle consists of an aluminium tube which has a ceramic handle attached to to it. The rope is threaded to through the aluminium tube and supports the water vane as it trails behind a ship.
History / Summary
This nautical odometer water vane handle was captured by the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver team during the 2003 Iraq War. It was was captured by a boarding party from HMAS Kanimbla after intercepting the Iraqi tug Jumariya.
