Description

Olive green wool flannelette groundsheet and sleeping bag liner, with press studs attached to nylon tabs around three sides. On the inside of the liner is a rectangular white cotton manufacturer's tag printed with 'C.G.C.F. / AUSTRALIA / 1962 / SIZE / D (Government Broad arrow) D / 7210-66-011-5817' in black ink.

History / Summary

This object is a standard Australian Army issued olive green woollen groundsheet liner issued to Australian troops in Vietnam. The liner could be clipped to a nylon groundsheet and used as an improvised sleeping bag. This ground sheet liner was used by 213548 Private Thomas William John Lupton. Born 28 March 1943, Lupton served in South Vietnam with 1 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) from 5 June 1965 to 3 June 1966. He later served nine years in the Australian Regular Army. He retired from the Army with the rank of corporal with 2RAR.
