Description

White silk sleeveless Vietnamese dress. There are two pairs of red and white fabric covered knot buttons and loops on the front of the gown, each of which consists three circles. There are two pairs of press studs under the buttons for additional strength. On the right hand side of the dress is a zipper. The dress is split on the bottom of each side. The dress is lined on the inside with nylon. This lining has a lace edging. The collar of the dress has several stains on the inside. Throughout the patterned white silk are flowers and Vietnamese Chinese symbols.

History / Summary

Associated with the service of 213548 Lance Corporal Thomas William John Lupton, born 28 March 1943. Lupton served in South Vietnam with C Company, 1 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment from 5 June 1965 to 3 June 1966. Lupton purchased this locally produced dress in Vietnam as a gift for his wife, Betty.
