A small panoramic sketch of a number of ships and their positions on the horizon in the harbour at Gaba Tepe, Gallipoli, Turkey, during the First World War. The ships depicted include SS 'Triumph', which was torpedoed by a German submarine, 'Dublin', an 8 gun turbine cruiser, launched in 1912, sent to the Dardanelles, Gallipoli,in February 1915; 'Queen Elizabeth' who in April 1915 attacked Turkish positions at Gaba Tepe and 'Bacchanalia (?)'. 'The drawing is by Lt. Dudley Marwood Elliott. He served with the 11th Battalion, Australian Infantry and died of wounds on 18 September 1918 near Roisel, France. D M Elliott was born in Brighton, Victoria in 1896, enlisted in August 1914, aged 18 and a half years and had been an architect before joining the Army.
