Description

Bandage winder, consisting of a pair of steel 'A' frames at each end, a cranked winder located through two holes at the apex of the frame, and a pair of adjustable supports at the rear, allowing different widths to be selected. At the front, a sprung wire clamp allows the winder to be secured to a work bench. A wire strainer located at the lower front provides tension against the bandage. The model is mounted to a small model table, painted white, and a cotton gauze bandage has been wound onto the upper winder to demonstrate its function. The name 'A. WORSFOLD' is impresed into the steel on the outside of one of the 'A' frames.

This model illustrates one of the many inventions of 12096 Private Alexander Worsfold, 9th Australian Field Ambulance. This device was able to fold into a small space, be adjustable and self gripping, with a weight of 3 ounces.
