Studio portrait of 308 Corporal (Cpl) John Dill Reid, C Company, 13th Battalion, of Liverpool, NSW. A farmer prior to enlistment on 23 September 1914, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses on 22 December 1914. Cpl Reid was killed in action on 26 April 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula, aged 21 years. His brother 4523 Private Marcus Dill Reid, also served with the13th Battalion AIF; he was killed in action on 13 July 1917 in Belgium, aged 21 years.
