Description
American Legion lapel button. The central design is a wreath surrounding a 5 pointed star. Within the star are the letters 'US' surrounded by a ring. The central design is made from brass. The outer part of the badge consists of a blue enamel ring with the words 'AMERICAN LEGION' in gilded metal. Surrounding the outside of the ring are stylised rays of sunlight also of gilded metal. The reverse of the badge has a short pin and is secured to clothing using a gilded disk that screws onto the pin.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of Cleve Hart Carney, who served with the Merchant Navy, including on operations off the coast of Vietnam during the war.
