Description

Studio portrait of Australian Nurse Margery Lundee Dight Walker, British Army. Margery Walker was seconded to the British Army in Cairo and worked in Salonika treating soldiers injured on the Macedonian front. She was awarded a Greek decoration, the Meritorious Medal, for this work. She was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, John Walker, who enlisted as a chaplain in the AIF. Five brothers also enlisted in British and Australian forces, three of whom were killed in action.
