Diary relating to the First World War service of 871 Gunner Herbert Alexander Affleck 3rd Battery, 1st Artillery Brigade. The diary was written between 1 January and 31 December 1914, and contains brief entries describing civilian life in Melbourne, his time spent at Broadmeadows military training camp and the voyage from Albany to Aden, including the stopover at Colombo.
