Description

Letters relating to the First World War service of Major Wilfred Evans, 1st Australian General Hospital. In this series of letters from 1915, Evans details the period from his embarkation to his evacuation from Gallipoli. Embarking with 1 Australian General Hospital, he describes his journey by sea to Egypt as well as Cairo and the surrounding areas. Evans goes on to detail his service with 3 Light Horse Field Ambulance (9 Light Horse Regiment) at Gallipoli and his subsequent evacuation to the island of Lemnos in December.
