Diary relating to the First World War service of Second Lieutenant Thomas James Richards, 1st Australian Infantry Battalion. The entries in this diary span the period 13 December 1916 to 26 January 1917 and cover Richards’ service and experiences with the 1st Infantry Battalion on the Somme during the winter of 1916/1917. This diary was originally bound by Richards into the last of four volumes and donated to the Australian War Memorial in 1933.
