Diary relating to the First World War service of Second Lieutenant Thomas James Richards, 1st Australian Infantry Battalion. The entries in this diary span the period 27 January to 3 April 1917 and cover Richards’ service and experiences with the 1st Battalion during the winter of 1916/1917 and his and transfer to the 1st Australian Divisional School of Instruction in March. This diary was originally bound by Richards into the last of four volumes and donated to the Australian War Memorial in 1933.
