Description

This series contains the original diaries and notebooks written or collected by Mary Anne 'Bessie' Pocock during the Boer War, First World War, and post-war periods. Within this series are eight diaries; five relating to her service with the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) during the First World War, two relating to her post-war life, and one from an unknown Boer War soldier. This series also contains three notebooks; one relating to her service with the New South Wales Army Nursing Service Reserve (NSWANSR) in the Boer War, one relating to her First World War service with the AANS, and one from an unspecified period containing notes on nursing and medical procedures. Finally, this series contains two autograph books filled with autographs and sketches from the above periods.
