Description
File of letters relating to the First World War service of Second Lieutenant Cecil Beaumont Mills, 23 Infantry Battalion. These letters written by Mills to his wife, cover the dates between 4 January and 30 April 1916. They mention: how expensive items are in Cairo; the move to Tel el Kebir; his gladness in not having to join the signalling course in Cairo; the opinions of the soldiers who have returned from fighting at Gallipoli; his packing up and movement from the camp at Tel el Kabir; his trouble in moving to serve in France; the trip from Egypt to France via Malta and life and conditions at the front line in the trenches.
