Description
File of letters relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Cecil Beaumont Mills, 23 Infantry Battalion. These letters were written by Mills to his wife between 3 May and 2 August 1916. In these letters he discusses the following: his life at and behind the front line; his training at the bomb school; his promotion to lieutenant; sharing what he learnt at the bomb school with others in his unit; reminisces of home and how sad he is missing his wedding anniversary with his wife; the fatigue work he undertakes; the lack of leave and the effect it is having on his men; and the poppies and flowers in France.
