Letters and Postcards written by John Slater, 1942-1945
Letters and postcard relating to the Second World War service of 7950 Sergeant John Slater, Armoured Car Company, Federated Malay States Volunteer Force. These letters and postcards were written by Slater to his wife Anne between 26 January 1942 and 5 September 1945. The earlier letters were written prior to his capture, which is described in the letter of 31 October 1942, and the POW postcards were written during his imprisonment. Slater wrote the last letter shortly after his release and in it describes some aspects of POW life. Also included is a copy of a drawing depicting Bill James at a camp concert in Thailand.
