Collection relating to the Boer War and Russo-Japanese War reporting of Captain Robert Joseph MacHugh, Daily Telegraph, South Africa, Japan, Korea, China, 1897-1905.
Wallet 2 of 3 - This wallet contains sixteen photocopied typescript press releases sent to the London office of the Daily Telegraph, written April - September 1904. The reports detail the Japanese advance from Korea into China. MacHugh describes his arrival in Korea, acquiring permits from the Japanese authorities, campaign movements including crossing the Yalu River and marching through Manchuria. Battles described include the second attack on Mo-tien-ling Pass, the capture of Chau-Kau, Battle of To-wang, Battle of Liaoyang.
