Diary of Maurice Grant Boydell, April 1943 - May 1944
Diary relating to the Second World War service of QX6141 Lieutenant Maurice Grant Boydell, 2/1st Anti-Tank Regiment, 5 April 1943 - 21 May 1944.
The third of four diaries kept by Boydell during the period 5 April 1943 - 21 May 1944. In this diary Boydell continues to document everyday life as a prisoner of war at Oflag VII-B in Eichstätt and Oflag VIII-F in Mährisch-Trübau. Common subjects covered include the weather, treatment of prisoners, physical and mental illnesses in camp, supplies available to prisoners, camp activities including gardening and sports, and rumours circulating amongst the men. He also documents notable events such as air raids, escape attempts by prisoners and guards conducting searches. A German newspaper clipping is also enclosed in the diary.
