Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant Colonel Owen Glendower Howell-Price, DSO, MC, Egypt, Gallipoli, France, 1914-1916. Collection includes photostat copies of letters written by Lieutenant Colonel Howell-Price, to his family in Australia, a handwritten note [signal of commendation] from General Harold Bridgwood Walker, a typescript letter from Lieutenant Colonel Robert Haylock Owen to Howell-Price, and two letters of condolence.

History / Summary

Biographical note: Lt. Col. Owen Glendower Howell-Price, DSO, MC; Commanding 3 Battalion, Australian Infantry, AIF. Son of Isabel Virginia and the late Rev. John Howell-Price. Died on 4 November 1916 of wounds received while visiting the front line near Flers the day before. Agriculturalist (previously a bank clerk); of Richmond, NSW; born Kiama, NSW; educated at Windsor Grammar School and Kogarah High School; age at time of death, 26. He had been a 1st Lieutenant in the NSW cadets.
