Kit bag : Sergeant E R McCormack, 2/3 Battalion
Black lightweight canvas kit bag with ten metal eyelets around the opening. A thin piece of rope is threaded through these to serve as a draw string. Written along the length of the bag in light brown paint is 'N.X.5425 E.R. Mc.CORMACK H.Q. 61051'. Underneath this, are three stripes of paint, one red between two grey. The top grey stripe written over in light brown paint 'XC'. The bottom of the bag has 'NX5425 61051 H.Q.' in red paint.
Associated with the service of NX5425 Sergeant Eric Robert McCormack. McCormack was born in Panchgani, India on 28 October, 1908 and enlisted with the AIF on 3 November, 1939. He served with the Australian Army Canteen Service and later transferred to 2/3 Battalion. The Battalion served in the Middle East and in New Guinea during the Second World War. McCormack was discharged on 12 September, 1945.
