Scheduling ceremonies
Currently, processing requests takes approximately 24 months. As a result, specific dates cannot be guaranteed. Scheduling the story will not proceed until the writing, editing, and digitising process is finished. Once the process is complete you will be contacted and the story scheduled in our Upcoming Ceremonies list. The Memorial reserves the right to reschedule a story.
Writing the stories
Every story is carefully researched and written by Australian War Memorial historians. They determine the content and ensure a consistent format. There is no existing library of stories for each individual on the Roll of Honour.
The writing process brings together source material held in a variety of cultural institutions, including the Memorial’s own collection as well as that of the National Archives of Australia and various other archives and library resources. Service records held at the National Archives must be digitised before we can proceed with any request.
All research material, stories, and ceremony content remains the property of the Australian War Memorial and is subject to copyright provisions.
