Contact refers to contacting the enemy.  “Contact” followed by a direction would be yelled when the enemy was encountered, such as “Contact Front”, after receiving advice from Veterans John now sings this lyric as ‘Then someone yelled out “Contact Front”’.  This report document refers to a contact Mick Storen had been involved in on 15 July 1969.  All contacts by Australians in Vietnam would have resulted in similar after action reports being created and were used as a feedback tool to improve training and operations.
