Description
An unidentified New Zealand Army colonel or brigadier, attends an Anzac day ceremony at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He is probably serving with the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC). In 1993 the New Zealand Army boosted its commitment to UNTAC, sending a further 40 communications specialists, forming the Force Communications Unit (FCU) with Australian forces. The officer, a Vietnam War veteran, is wearing a ribbon bar displaying the ribbon colours for an Order of the British Empire (OBE); Vietnam Medal; New Zealand Armed Forces Award; and Vietnamese Campaign Medal. He has attached a red poppy of remembrance to his UN cap badge.
