The first series consists of a pocket leather notebook containing officer lists, casualty lists and the names of relatives of officers killed as well as papers relating to the history of the 35th and 36th Battalions, retaining individual accounts of operations at Villers-Bretonneux, Morlancourt and Accroche Wood. The second series comprises of a narrative history of the 9th Brigade, 'Chain of Events: History of the 9th Australian Infantry Brigade Group', war diaries relating to the 9th Brigade from between 1917 and 1918, events timelines, ammunitions training reports and brief histories of the 9th Australian Machine Gun Company and the 9th Field Company Australian Engineers.
