Description

This file contains telegrams, letters and memorandums related to the landing at Gallipoli, the death of General Bridges, King’s Birthday greetings, and the departure of Admiral Thursby from Gallipoli. Some of the correspondence in this file relates to Winston Churchill as First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson as Governor-General of Australia, Lord Liverpool as Governor of New Zealand, General Sir Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton, Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood, Cecil Fiennes Thursby as Commanding No II Squadron, Sir George Houston Reid as High Commissioner for Australia, Lieutenant Colonel Sir Arthur Bigge (Lord Stamfordham) as Private Secretary to King George V, Major General Walter Pipon Braithwaite as Chief of General Staff Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Andrew Fisher as Australian High Commissioner to United Kingdom, and Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener.
