Description
Silver trophy cup mounted on fluted brown bakelite base. The cup has thin handles rising up and out from each side and a raised decorative edge encircling the cup close to the lip. The front is engraved with the words 'HAWAIIAN CLUB "A" CLASS SOLO CHAMPIONSHIP Won by J. Shipman 1936'.
History / Summary
Associated with the pre-war activities of 422085 Flight Lieutenant John William Shipman. Shipman served with 100 Squadron, RAAF, flying Bristol Beaufort aircraft, and died during flying battle over New Guinea on 13 March 1945.
