Description

Studio portrait of the four Parker brothers and sisters who all served during the Second World War. Left to right: NF410013 Corporal June Parker, who enlisted in the AWAS on 18 July 1942 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on 26 January 1946; Naval Cadet Robert Parker, who as a Naval Cadet in 1943 served on Channel Patrol Boats in Sydney Harbour until he was eighteen and joined the 2nd AIF as NX204932 (2/400030) Private Parker, he later served in Japan in BCOF and in Korea in the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR); NX93288 Gunner Ernest John (Jack) Parker, who enlisted on 23 March 1942 and served in the 2/3rd Tank Attack Regiment until he was discharged on 8 May 1946 and NX76269 Private Nance Vivian Parker, who enlisted in the AMWAS on 15 August 1941 and after serving in the Middle East, returned to Australia in late 1942. She was married in Adelaide in December 1942 to SX231 Captain Leslie Irvine Hopton and continued to serve with postings to Sydney and Cowra and promotion to Lieutenant, the rank she held when discharged on 21 January 1946.
