Spoon : Iraqi minelayer 'Jumariya'
Description
Cast aluminium spoon used by a crew member of the Iraqi minelayer 'Jumariya'. The spoon is roughly cast, with mould markings around its edges, and has some crude decoration on its handle, consisting of raised dots and diagonal lines. The tip of the handle has been snapped off.
History / Summary
Aluminium spoon taken from the Iraqi minelaying tug 'Jumariya' (also known as 'Jamahoria'). This tug was intercepted by a boarding party from HMAS Kanimbla, and was found to be towing a barge loaded with 20 Manta and 48 LUGM sea mines.
