Studio portrait of Major Henry Hume David Turnbull, Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC). Major Turnbull was a physician from Toorak, Victoria, when he applied for a commission in the AAMC at the outbreak of war. He left Australia with the No.1 Australian General Hospital (1 AGH) on the hospital ship HMAT Kyarra. He saw service in Egypt, then in France. He returned to Australia in 1918.
