Description

At the beginning of this personal diary, Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood records several names and addresses as well as a list of London Gazette references. The diary entries commence on 1 January 1918. Some of the personalities mentioned in these entries include: Rawlinson, Hobbs, White, Plumer, Coxen, Churchill, King George V and Jellicoe. Attention is given to visiting Lille on 28 October to read a speech and present the mayor with the flag of the British Fifth Army. Underlined in blue is the acceptance of the Armistice on 11 November 1918. The diary entries end on 31 December 1918.
