Correspondence relating to the First World War service of Major Keith McKeddie Doig, 60th Infantry Battalion, 7 January - 2 December 1917.
In this collection of letters and postcards written by Keith McKeddie Doig to his fiancée, Lewis Maffra Grant, the author writes about domestic matters, active service in France and Belgium, and periods of leave in England. Doig documents various accounts of action on the Somme battlefields including at the Second Battle of Bullecourt and the Battle of Polygon Wood. He expresses admiration at the bravery of infantry battalions and commends the general character of Australian troops. In his role as a Medical Officer, Doig also provides an insight into treating an increasing number of casualties and dealing with the loss of life.
