Description

Trancription of the diary relating to the First World War service of Brigadier General Harold William Grimwade, 3rd Division Artillery. This transciption was made by the family of Grimwade and covers the dates between 1 January 1918 and 1 January 1919 cover. This trancript menations: his leave in January; his return to the front; the sports he plays; the attacks on Dernancourt; unit movements; the death of Manfred von Richthofen (the Red Baron); the officers he communicates with; the battle of Amiens; his activities while on leave and his movement after the armistice was signed.
Also included in the trancpit is a copy of a letter writtem by Grimwade to the father of Lieutenant Parker Roy Allworth. It mentions that Lieutenant Allworth was a hard working and well liked officer.
