Cross of War Merit : German Principality of Lippe
Description
Cross of War Merit [Lippisches Verdienstkreuz], instituted in 1914. Gilt gun-metal cross pattee. Obverse shows a Lippe rose in centre encircled by a wreath. On upper arm a crowned 'L', on lower arm '1914'. Reverse is inscribed 'FUR AUS ZEICHNUNG IM KREIGE' [For distinction in war]. Complete with combattant's ribbon, yellow 34mm wide, with 3mm red side stripes and 3mm white edges.
