Description

One of a series of posters called 'Headlines of History' produced by Newseum and the Office of International Information Programs, US Department of State, in 2002 to mark the anniversary of the events of September 11. Many of the newspaper front pages featured in 'Headlines of History' were first seen together in the 12th of September 2001 exhibit 'Today's Front Pages' produced by the Newseum, Arlington, Virginia. 'Headlines of History' was shown in several places around the world. This poster depicts the front page of the Daily Telegraph, published in London, on the 12th of September 2001. The main image shows the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York after terrorists crashed airliners into the buildings. Thick black smoke issues from the top of one of the towers as a fireball explodes out of the other tower in a shower of glass and debris. The headline reads 'War on America'.
