One of a series of posters called 'Headlines of History' produced by Newseum and the Office of International Information Programs, US Department of State, in 2002 to mark the anniversary of the events of September 11. Many of the newspaper front pages featured in ‘Headlines of History’ were first seen together in the 12th of September 2001 exhibit 'Today's Front Pages' produced by the Newseum, Arlington, Virginia. ‘Headlines of History’ was shown in several places around the world. This poster depicts the front page of The Daily Jang published in Pakistan on the 12th of September 2001. The upper image shows the the skyline of Manhattan as seen across the water, after terrorists hijacked planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center. Clouds of thick black smoke, ash and dust rise in the background. The lower right image shows disorientated New Yorkers covered in ash and debris.
