The Chosun Ilbo 12 September 2001
One of a series of posters called 'Headlines of History' produced by Newseum and the Office of International Information Programs, US Department of State, in 2002 to mark the anniversary of the events of September 11. Many of the newspaper front pages featured in 'Headlines of History' were first seen together in the 12th of September 2001 exhibit 'Today's Front Pages' produced by the Newseum, Arlington, Virginia. 'Headlines of History' was shown in several places around the world. This poster depicts the front page of The Chosun Ilbo published in South Korea, on the 12th of September 2001. The main image shows the World Trade Center, after its Twin Towers had been hit by planes hijacked by terrorists. One of the towers has collapsed sending clouds of debris over the city. The other tower is still standing as plumes of black smoke come from the building.
