Australian Flying Corps brevet
Known as a brevet, this badge was worn by pilots who flew with the Australian Flying Corps. Trainees completed about eight months of training which began with classes in practical work and theory.
Candidates hoping to qualify as pilots made their first solo flight after about three hours of dual flying. They would then complete at least another twenty hours of flying, including some cross-country flights and some night-flying, prior to graduating.
How might trainee pilots feel when they finally received their brevets?
