Nurse’s shoulder cape
Each nurse received an allowance to equip themselves for overseas service. They were required to have, amongst other items, three ward dresses, six starched collars, eight white aprons, two red shoulder capes and a pair of black boots.
The nurses wore the red shoulder capes over their ward dresses and aprons. The capes were fastened at the throat with a silver Rising Sun badge and “Australia” titles were attached to each shoulder strap.
